LAW…
The lessons to be learned from Daniel, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego, Peter, Paul and others who have stood for God are:
1. The law is the law
For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar.” – Acts 25:11 NKJV
2. We follow the law unless it transgress God’s law.
But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” – Acts 4:19-20 NKJV
3. The law is the law…
and it may be used of God, even if it is a law that is not God honoring, not just, but against God Himself.
But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. – Philippians 1:12-14 NKJV
We need to pray for all Christians who are willing to take a stand in the face of an un-Christian law. It is still the law, and the Judge has the authority to pass judgment as he/she sees fit, and the police have the authority to carry out the judgement… and it may be an evil law… but it is the law.
As long as we have the legal means to battle this, then we must use all legal means at our disposal to do so.
But, there are those that say the “law is the law” meaning that we should just give in, give up, and obey it, even if it is morally offensive. They are incorrect.
Let us all remember:
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. – Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
You, I, and all of us who know Jesus as our Lord need to approach the throne of God about this… and the rest of the evil that has fast come upon us (though I know many have been and are being caught asleep)… and that which is about to come upon us.
Be prepared.
Let each of us be so prepared when the law (which is the law) brings us into that place where we have to decide to stand with God or with the law, that we are able to echo:
…, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” – Daniel 3:16-18 NKJV
I personally have stood my ground in the face of police action against the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In my case, the court ruled in my favor. But, there is coming a day when that will not be… and perhaps that day is now upon us.
