The blog name

This blog is named השער which means “The Gate” in Hebrew.

The Website

This is taken from Proverbs 31:23 and is the reason for the Website’s URL.

Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land.

Proverbs 31:23 NKJV

Importance

The Hebrew word for gate is שער (shah’-ar) and is the place that the elders would gather to discuss the word of God.

You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment.

Deuteronomy 16:18 NKJV

They would also conduct business and maters of the heart.

Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there; and behold, the close relative of whom Boaz had spoken came by. So Boaz said, “Come aside, friend, sit down here.” So he came aside and sat down.

Ruth 4:1 NKJV
